Bedford Junior Blues U15: (Year 10 from 1st Sep)
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN JOINING THE UNDER 15s THEN PLEASE EMAIL SIMON OR ANDY. PLEASE DO NOT TURN UP TO A SESSION AS YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE.
The Junior Blues Under 15s provide quality rugby in an enjoyable and structured environment supported by a team of RFU qualified volunteers. In keeping with all Bedfordshire and East Midlands rugby clubs, we play under the RFU's 'New Rules of Play' - a deliberately child-centric approach to the game. Through this phased approach to learning, we introduce children to the rugby skills that they will then use for the rest of their playing days (and the social skills and friendships that will help them throughout life).
We are passionate about what we do, but we are not about winning matches at all costs. The core values of rugby – Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship – are at the heart of what we do and our goal is to allow all our players to experience the fellowship, fun and excitement that rugby offers.
The main changes to the game for Under 15s are:
- 15 players in a team
- 8 players in a scrum
- Kicking at goal
- Uncontested lineout
- We will also continue to develop tackling, passing, kicking, use of space, support play, continuity, etc.
- Owing to COVID-19 restrictions we will be following a modified set of rules that form the RFU's "Return to Rugby" pathway for the first part of the season.
We normally train at Bedford Athletic's ground on Wentworth Drive on Sundays.
Mid-week training will be on Tuesdays from 7-8 pm at Bedford Athletic's ground on Wentworth Drive
