As Bedford Blues look ahead to a mammoth away fixture against Saracens, the Junior Blues celebrate the success of having 3 former Junior Blues graduates playing 1st 15 Rugby for the Blues in the Green King Championship.
With Rich Lane captaining the blues against Jersey Reds, an appearance for Rob Hardwick on Loan and a competitive debut for Tom Litchfield.
Tom who has progressed through the Junior Blues age grades and then onto the Saints Academy won his first professional contract with Northampton Saints this Season.
We spoke to Tom on the eve of the away fixture with Saracens and asked what it has taken to get to this position so far and if he has any advice for the current crop of Junior Blues Players.
Tom’s message to the Junior Blues is “enjoy your rugby, enjoy playing and meeting new players, enjoy getting back into it after not having played for a while. Ensure you focus on skills, use training as a time to put yourself under pressure and don’t be scared to make mistakes, that’s how you get better, by learning from mistakes”.
Fantastic advice from Tom. Everyone at the Junior Blues wishes Tom the very best as he starts his professional journey and we look forward to seeing what the future holds…..
Bedford Play Saracens on Sunday, kick off at 1pm.
